The Increasing Demands Placed on the Batteries of New Vehicles Means Drivers Must Set Charging as a Top Maintenance Priority, Says CTEK

London, United Kingdom, June 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- CTEK, a global battery maintenance and care brand, is advising owners of new vehicles to ensure their car batteries are regularly maintained to avoid inconvenient breakdowns and expensive repair bills, resulting from the increasing technological strain placed on state-of-the-art cars.

Whilst a flat battery is not the first problem an owner of a new vehicle would expect, the high voltages that complex electrical equipment in new vehicles consume mean it is a regular occurrence across the world. Electrical gadgets, such as in-car phone chargers and family entertainment devices, require a constant stream of power from a car’s battery, and as a result a large amount of strain is placed on the unit. If a battery is not cared for, whether the vehicle is a few months or years old, it is likely an early replacement will be required.

In a report, German breakdown company ADAC has recently revealed that the lack of basic car maintenance being undertaken by motorists is giving rise to one in three call outs being battery related. Whether due to a fault or deep discharge, batteries stand out in these findings from Germany, as there has been a decrease in almost all other areas where a technical component is responsible for the breakdown.

Inconvenience and the cost of a replacement battery can be avoided if a basic maintenance routine is put it place. Regularly connecting a smart car battery charger from the week a vehicle is purchased, whether new or second-hand, avoids battery performance degradation and can result in the unit lasting years longer compared to one that is not cared for.

Katariina Stahl, director of sales and marketing at CTEK, commented: “The report recently published in Germany by ADAC found that one in three breakdowns were battery related and many of these issues can be prevented. By ensuring a regular battery charging routine is carried out, vehicle owners can avoid the inconvenience of having a flat battery or encountering any costly replacement bills. With CTEK smart chargers, vehicle owners can simply connect and charge their battery overnight, resulting in a fully charged battery, thus preventing damage to the unit and increasing its life by years.”
