New York, NY, November 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Modell’s Sporting Goods, America’s oldest family-owned and -operated retailer of sporting goods, athletic footwear, active apparel and fan gear, announces that Merchantry’s eCommerce software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform is enabling the retailer to enlarge its online assortment by thousands of products.

Seeking to expand its product assortment on Modells.com in time for the holiday season, the retailer contracted with new suppliers to provide access to thousands of previously unavailable SKUs. The technology relationship between Modell’s and each supplier is managed via Merchantry’s Supplier Hub software, enabling:

* Streamlined supplier onboarding: making it simple for new suppliers to technically integrate with Modells.com for both product content and order management
* All-digital and eCommerce-ready product content creation: limiting the need for manual processes around content development and review
* Managed order routing: splitting orders and routing individual items to the appropriate supplier
* SaaS convenience: eliminating platform hosting, maintenance, upgrade and support costs

Employing Merchantry’s software, Modell’s is now able to offer its online shoppers:

* A greater breadth of product categories: including, for example, bulky items such as exercise equipment
* More depth in existing product categories: including fan apparel and sporting goods for professional sports teams nationwide—outside Modell's traditional Northeast market

During a 60-day implementation phase, Merchantry integrated its platform with Modell’s Shopatron system for orders, returns and inventory data, while Modell's integrated its JDA Software Merchandise Management System with Merchantry's platform.
