Chop Squad Film Screening

Austin Filmmaker/Actor Nick Royce Debuts "Chop Squad" Short Film Series to Jumpstart Full-Length Edgy Comedy/Action Feature; Party/Screening at Roppolo's on Sixth on 5/22; Also Open Call for Next Segment Extras & Local Film Community Networking Event

Austin, TX, May 19, 2014 --(PR.com)-- What's a trio of not-so-professional hit men to do when the mobster they are hired to kill keeps coming back to life? Find out at the premiere screening for the initial "Chop Squad" short film on Thursday, May 22 at Roppolo's Pizzeria, 318 East Sixth St., at 8 PM.

Directed, produced, written by and starring Nick Royce – who plays Max, the leader of the bumbling Chop Squad hit team – the short is the first in a series of three being made to generate fans, buzz and funding to help produce the feature-length "Chop Squad" movie. It follows the misadventures of killer-for-hire Nick and his crew: The burly and tight-lipped BA (played by Derek Thomas) and Angel (played by Sarah Niarkos), a tough, trash-talking moll who taunts and teases BA with her nasty and suggestive antics. As the target of their hit returns from the dead, Max has to keep his squabbling crew in line and try to fulfill the contract for his client.

Professionally shot with a high-quality Red Epic video camera, "Chop Squad" provocatively pushes the boundaries set by two of Royce's favorite filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino and fellow Austinite Robert Rodriguez, with its raunchy dialogue and shoot 'em up action. It was lensed at such local locations as Karma Lounge, Rooftop on Sixth and 360 Pizza.

Royce has been previously seen as an actor in the movie "The Rage Within" (starring Fred Williamson), an episode of "Walker, Texas Ranger" and other productions. He is also a musical artist who records and performs hip-hop as Pimp TYT, and has opened concerts Wu Tang Clan, Ghostface Killah, Run DMC, Robb Bass, Digital Underground, had tracks hit Soundcloud's Top 10, and won a Coast 2 Coast Mixtape song contest. Royce's music is featured in "Chop Squad."

The screening in the upstairs lounge at Roppolo's will also be an open call for extras to appear in the next two "Chop Squad" shorts. As well, Royce seeks to use the occasion to gather Austin's independent film community together and foster networking and mutual support.

If you like your movies laced with bullets, laughs, action and witty foul-mouthed talk, the "Chop Squad" screening and party is not to be missed.
