Alpha Data Joins the OpenPOWER Foundation

Alpha Data, a leading global supplier of high performance FPGA technology, announced today the company has joined the OpenPOWER Foundation, an open development community based on the POWER microprocessor architecture.

Denver, CO, May 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Alpha Data joins a growing roster of technology organizations working collaboratively to build advanced server, networking, storage and acceleration technology as well as industry leading open source software aimed at delivering more choice, control and flexibility to developers of next-generation, hyperscale and cloud data centers. The group makes POWER hardware and software available to open development for the first time, as well as making POWER intellectual property licensable to others, greatly expanding the ecosystem of innovators on the platform.

"Alpha Data provides high-performance FPGA based products and is particularly interested in the Accelerator Working Group. Our Xilinx® FPGA based boards provide the highest performance per watt, lowest latency and simple programming methods for heterogeneous processing systems using the OpenPOWER architecture." -Adam Smith – CEO

"With Alpha Data joining OpenPOWER we're looking forward to even closer collaboration across thought leaders in FPGA acceleration and technical computing," said Norm James, Chief Architect, IBM OpenPOWER Alliances. "The raw performance advantages of POWER are amplified by the work Alpha Data is embarking on with Xilinx. This is a win for the OpenPOWER community."
