Harrison Township Police Receive AED Donation from NewHouse Medical
Natrona Heights, PA, February 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Harrison Township Police Department received three (3) AEDs (automated external defibrillators) last week. These live-saving units were donated to the department by the NewHouse Medical, a local company who deployed nearly 1,000 AED units nationwide last year.

The AEDs were presented to Police Chief Mike Klein on January 18, 2007 by Jason Heffran, Managing Partner and CEO of NewHouse Medical. “It seemed like the right thing to do.”, said Mr. Heffran. “We knew they only had one outdated AED and now they’ll be able to equip each patrolman’s vehicle with the ability to save a life if the situation presents itself.”

Police Chief Klein echoed Mr. Heffran’s sentiments, “We know the value of these units and are thankful and very appreciative of this donation. If one life is saved, I think we’ll all see the value throughout the community of these life-saving devices. I was also pleased when I learned that these AEDs can also be used to treat children.”

About NewHouse Medical: NewHouse Medical is a brand-independent provider of AED units and complete AED solutions. With a client list that includes the Texas Highway Patrol, White Sands Missile Range, several military customers, The Dallas Cowboys, several large colleges such as University of Alabama and hospitals coast-to-coast, including UPMC – NewHouse Medical is positioned to continue its phenomenal growth and continue to deploy AED units across the United States. In 2007, the company placed nearly 1,000 AED units into service and saved four (4) lives as a result of theses efforts.

Contrary to commonly published reports, AEDs do not cost $3,000 and up. The most durable unit, used in approximately 75% of the company’s deployments costs around $1,500. Price should not be the issue when purchasing an AED. The company is currently working with Charlie Batch of the Pittsburgh Steelers and his "Best of the Batch Foundation" in developing a program that will address the needs of lower-income school districts to ensure that they are able to acquire these life-saving devices.
