Phoenix, AZ, May 30, 2017 --(PR.com
)-- In the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s latest Hazard Alert, a report of recommendations and descriptions of mandatory safety and health standards, it was reported that in a one-year period 10 preventable fatalities and more than 20 preventable injuries due to aerial lifts were investigated.
OSHA’s investigation found that a majority of these injuries and fatalities were the result of employers not addressing fall protection
, stabilization and positioning of equipment. OSHA is urging that only trained workers operate aerial lifts and that employers provide training for employees that are in roles that require use of equipment.
Proper use of aerial lifts includes maintaining the equipment, following the manufacturer’s instructions, providing workers training and needed personal protective equipment, and implementing safe work practices.
