Talamas Proudly Presents Unique Set of Vintage Leica R Lenses for Rent

Newton, MA, October 03, 2017 --(PR.com)-- High quality, affordable, and available now for rent at Talamas, this set of Leica Rs will allow users to capture amazing images and video and a signature look in virtually any application.

“Vintage lenses are very in style these days, partly because digital sensors have become so good that people are finding and creating their own looks by relying on the glass they use,” says Dan Isola, who works in Business Development at Talamas and is a DP in his own right.

In all the set includes an R 24mm Elmarit, a superb wide-angle, flyable lens, the highly versatile R 35mm Summicron and R 50mm Summicron, the R 60mm Macro Elmarit and R 90mm Summicron, and an R 135mm Elmarit telephoto, which provides tremendous depth with any digital sensor.

Originally used for photography and manufactured in Germany between 1978 and 1984, the entire set has been cine-modded and boast EF-mounts and a .8 gear pitch focus ring. “So naturally they work on any modern EF mount camera and with any handheld or wireless follow focus like a HEDÉN Carat,” Isola adds. “All these lenses have a phenomenal, but consistent, look. In photography, the Summicron R 90mm is known as one of the best portrait lenses out there and that translates into a really nice close up lens.”

Founded by Ernst Leitz in 1924, Leica Camera AG is one of the most highly respected optics and camera manufacturers in the world. Leica’s sister company, CW Sonderoptic was founded in 2008 and is based in Leitz Park in Wetzlar, Germany – the hometown of Leitz and Leica. CW manufactures, modifies and markets the highest quality Leica-branded cine lenses for film, television, and commercial production.

Leica products have been utilized by countless photographers to capture some of the most iconic images of the past century, among them Alfred Eisenstaedt’s ‘The Kiss’ (1945), Alberto Korda’s portrait of Che Guevara, "Guerrillero Heroico" (1960), and Nick Út’s "The Terror of War" (1972).

The addition of this Vintage Leica R set bolsters the variety of lenses Talamas already has on offer. The lenses provide a tremendous amount of character across the board and are ideal for even the most demanding motion picture environments.

“They’ll apply to many different scenarios because of that character; product shots, commercials, as a specialty lens for television, short films and features,” Isola sums up. “Vintage lenses help get a specific message across. They set the scene in a unique way. The Leica Rs are just phenomenal pieces of equipment and a great way to achieve a specific look.”
