Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center Achieves Healthgrades 2018 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award™

Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center Achieves Healthgrades 2018 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award™
Denver, CO, August 09, 2018 --( Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center announced today that it has been named a recipient of the Healthgrades 2018 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award™. The achievement recognizes Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center for exceptional clinical outcomes while caring for women during labor and immediately after delivery of their newborn, as well as women undergoing gynecologic procedures.

“At Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, safety is the top priority for our moms and babies,” states Amanda Veit, Chief Nursing Officer at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center. “As the only tertiary/quaternary combined adult and pediatric hospital in the region, our world-renowned physicians are experts at handling everything from routine to high-risk pregnancies with cutting-edge technology and a compassionate approach. Babies who need a little extra care are treated just down the hallway from mom while she recovers in our beautiful, new Mom & Baby unit.”

“Hospital recipients of the Healthgrades 2018 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award have proven their commitment to quality care and their patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Healthgrades. “The award serves as a helpful indicator to consumers and helps them search for hospitals that achieve exceptional outcomes.”

Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data for all patients (all-payer data) made available by 15 individual states and the District of Columbia for years 2014 through 2016. During this time, if all hospitals in the analysis performed similarly to those that received the Healthgrades 2018 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award, complications could have potentially been avoided for 116,145 patients.*

Additionally, from 2014 through 2016, patients treated in hospitals receiving the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award, had, on average a 32.8 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award.*
