Phoenix Foreclosures Continue Steady Climb in May 2008

Pima County Sees Decrease of Over 2 Percent.

Phoenix, AZ, July 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Default Research, the premier provider of preforeclosure real estate data in the Phoenix area, is reporting that foreclosure activity rose 4.62 percent in Maricopa County from April 2008 to May 2008. Maricopa had a total of 4,437 unique Notice of Trustee Sales last month and 2.54 percent of households in that area are facing foreclosure.

“Home inventories have been declining over the past twelve months while median home values have declined approximately 16 percent,” said Serdar Bankaci, founder of Default Research. “While Maricopa County continued to struggle last month, Pima County was able to improve their housing situation slightly and had their first decrease in foreclosures since February 2008.”

Pima County saw a decrease of 2.19 percent from April 2008 to May 2008 and saw only 446 unique Notice of Trustee Sales, a decrease of over 3,500 in one month. Also, only 1.05 percent of households in Pima are facing foreclosure. Inside of Maricopa and Pima county, the three hardest hit regions are Phoenix (1632), Mesa (443), and Tucson (401).
