About Kristina M. McGahan
Kristina M. McGahan, RN, BSN, is a nurse recovery coach, NLP-certified practitioner, and life coach with over 28 years of healthcare experience in cardiovascular care, telemetry, progressive care, and medical-surgical nursing. McGahan provides consulting services focused on helping nurses recover from trauma and burnout, as well as employee assistance, telemetry, and cardiac care.
McGahan founded Mind Over Matter: Nursing Recovery Summit to help nurses recover from burnout, emotional exhaustion, and trauma without leaving the profession. Drawing from her own experiences in high-acuity healthcare environments, she uses nervous system-based coaching, mindset shifts, faith-based identity work, guided meditations, and deep root-level coaching to help nurses identify and rewire survival patterns that can develop from prolonged stress and overwork, rebuild confidence and resilience, process workplace stress and trauma, and reconnect with their authentic selves. The program offers one-on-one coaching sessions, Sozo guided meditations, and access to a membership portal with lifetime modules and guided meditations.
In addition to coaching, McGahan has served in leadership, preceptor, and educator roles, mentoring new nurses and contributing to hospital orientation and training programs. She has expertise in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation and helps nurses strengthen critical thinking and bedside assessment skills.
McGahan is the author of “What Every Nurse Must Know: Telemetry Secrets (2025),” a practical resource designed to help nurses interpret cardiac monitoring, recognize abnormalities, and apply sound clinical judgment in real time.
Acknowledged for her accomplishments, McGahan has earned the Nurse of the Year at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital for 2021–2022 and the Woman of Empowerment Award in 2025.
McGahan earned her B.S.N. from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1998. She also holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and the NIH Stroke Scale.
