Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute of Freehold, New Jersey Welcomes Three Summer Interns
Freehold, NJ, August 07, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, PC (AOSMI) initiated a summer intern program by welcoming three college students into their offices. Bill Toth, Kamal Patel and Elizabeth Palez started their internship at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in the early summer.

The three students represent three different institutions, areas of study, and cultural backgrounds. Bill Toth attends Yale University and works for the Obama campaign in his free time. Kamal Patel is a medical student at George Washington University and is assisting the doctors this summer. Elizabeth Perez is a nursing student at Brookdale Community College and works at the Route 9 office of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute.

Bill Toth is excited about the way his internship is going as he gets to see firsthand how doctors and patients work with insurance companies. “As a political science major I hope to one day write policy about insurance and my hands-on experience at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute provides me the opportunity to see how insurance policy works in the real world.”

Kamal Patel wants to be an orthopedic surgeon and is finding his summer internship invaluable. Mr. Patel is assisting Dr. Goldberger and says he loves the experience. “I have learned how committed doctors must be to their practice, staff and most importantly their patients. Now I realize the extraordinary amount of hours doctors must dedicate to their work.”

Elizabeth Palez finds her work to be inspiring saying, “I am thankful for the experience and the opportunity to learn how a group practice is organized and the many ways in which nurses play a role in a practice.”

“Giving three young New Jersey residents the opportunity to augment their college education with practical experience is enriching for everyone involved,” says Carl Meinhold, COO of AOSMI. “We look at this program as an investment for the future, not only for Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, but the community. When we support college students by giving them opportunities, we’re also encouraging others to think about a future in medicine. The community ultimately benefits with more medical professionals.”

Dr. Michael Greller, orthopedic surgeon and president of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, PC also points out that the entire staff of AOSMI enjoys having the students on board. “You may think the students are the only ones benefiting, but they inspire all personnel to be good role models.”
