Virtual Trainers Net Real WSOP Wins
Las Vegas, NV, July 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Thousands of online poker enthusiasts know them as their instructors. But as the 2009 World Series of Poker wrapped up July 16, thousands more were reminded that they are also champions.

The pros that make up the faculty of Poker VT – a leading online poker site that trains players of all levels – cashed for a combined total of $839,257 over the course of the series.

Leading the pack was the Poker VT Team Captain, Daniel Negreanu, who finished out the series with two final tables and eight cashes for a total of $331,860 in winnings.

Negreneau, whose "small ball strategy" is the core of the Poker VT curriculum and who provides one-on-one instruction at the site, was very pleased with his team's performance.

"Every year the World Series of Poker comes around and pushes every poker player that enters to the limit of their abilities," he said. "Many players who throw down the cash to enter fail to even see a return on their investment, let alone a new piece of jewelry on their wrist, so it's good to see our team proving that the skills we teach at Poker VT translate into real championship play."

Poker VT’s instructors stood out in this total field of 60,875 players with several deep runs and big cashes. Not far behind Negrenau was Jason "JCarver" Somerville, an online pro who brought his skills to the live arena, making an impressive two final tables and three cashes for a total of $311,786 in winnings.

"It's simple," Somerville said. "Our strategies work. Online or at an actual table – when you play true to your strategy, you can't go wrong."

Other Poker VT Pros 2009 WSOP stats include Matt "Ch0ppy" Kay with one final table and two cashes for a total of $25,809; Joshua "theNorfman" Norris with two cashes for $18,246 total; Bryan "Devo" Devonshire with a pair of cashes for $7,945; and JC "PrtyPsux" Alvarado with one final table and two cashes for $143,610.
