Shock Departure for Fan Favorite O’Shea on CMT's Can You Duet
Nashville, TN, July 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Fan favorite O’Shea left CMT’s Can You Duet series this week after performing the Bonnie Raitt classic, “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and facing a harsh round of criticism from the celebrity judges, leaving viewers shocked. These shock waves spread throughout the Nashville community and even esteemed songwriter Mike Reid who co-wrote the iconic ballad, came forward to show O’Shea his support after seeing their emotional performance.

“O’Shea’s rendition of the song is one of the freshest, most moving performances I’ve had ever the pleasure of hearing,” commented Reid.

Since filming wrapped on Can You Duet, O’Shea has managed to balance their hip weekly shows at Nashville's Blue Bar every Wednesday with weekend opening spots for Jimmy Wayne, Sara Evans and The Oakridge Boys, to name a few.

"There is nothing better than writing songs and performing them in front of a packed house,” says Jay O’Shea. “That's what our time on Can You Duet has helped us do and we are totally grateful." And, Mark adds "The 100's of emails, myspace and twitter messages that we're receiving from fans we didn't even know we had, has really been overwhelming. We are having the best time out on the road meeting everybody!"

In addition to pounding the pavement, they've also been writing up a storm with such hit-makers as The Warren Brothers, Shay Smith and Shawn Colvin.

About O’Shea
Individually Mark and Jay O’Shea have an impressive string of writing and artist credits that span the globe. In their Australian birthplace, they’ve won CMAA awards, the equivalent to the U.S.’s CMA Awards. They’ve also written songs that soared to No. 1 in Europe. It’s only since relocating to Nashville however, in 2007 that this talented husband and wife team decided to join forces and wow—what a combo. With Jay’s country-soul voice blending perfectly with Mark’s country-rock sensibilities, it’s a match made in heaven. Check out why: O'SHEA on Can You Duet and www.myspace.com/therealoshea.
