Waltham, MA, November 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Retailnet Group, LLC,(RNG) a leading insight and advisory firm specializing in forward-thinking guidance pertaining to retail growth strategies and capabilities has announced the release of its updated European retail forecast. This forecast, a product of RNG’s Trade Analytics services is based in RetailNet Group’s customer master database of every major chain retailer, both store and non store, across the globe. For the European Market this covers more than 200 major retailers, with more than 880 store banners operating in 41 countries. These retailers collectively operate more than 212,000 stores and represent over 47% of all retail sales across these geographies collectively. Companies such as Walmart, Tesco, Carrefour, Casino, Aldi, Schwartz (Lidl) and many others are prominantly featured. This distinctive database provides RNG's extensive client base with a comprehensive customer master with a 5 year forecast for each retailer and market out to 2014 for benchmarking and business planning.

RNG’s forecast highlights include:
1. Chain retailers’ share of formal retail sales continues to grow as retail leaders leverage scale and capability in the current recession.
2. The top retailers’ share of growth is accelerating as retailers develop greater capabilities and leverage scale. The top 15 retailers by growth (sales added) are forecasted to capture 66% of retail sales growth from a base share (2009) of 43%.
3. Discounter banners represent a significant component of future growth, with the top 15 European discounters with a modest 13% share of chain retail sales increasing their sales added capture from 25% to 30% to ratchet their chain retail share to 15% by 2014 in a very competitive retailing and slow economic growth market.
