TEDxSF Speaker Lineup and Theme Announced: Courage and Resilience San Francisco Event to be Held April 27th

TEDxSF, the Bay Area’s local, independent organization, announced TEDxSF: Courage and Resilience, an evening of fresh talks exploring the human spirit. Speakers include Captain Paul Watson, of the Sea Shepherd and Whale Wars fame, David Shenk, author of The Genius In All of Us, and Dr. John Gray, the best selling relationship author of Venus on Fire, Mars on Ice.

San Francisco, CA, March 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- TEDxSF, the Bay Area’s local, independent organization that brings the TED experience to San Francisco, announced TEDxSF: Courage and Resilience, an evening of fresh talks exploring the human spirit.

“We have an outstanding lineup of front line speakers and performers including Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd, best selling relationship author Dr. John Gray, Guitar Hero Founder Charles Huang, and Ultimate Fighting Champ Nate Quarry,” said Jason Johnson, co-founder of the San Francisco-based independent TEDxSF. “This program continues our focus on fresh talks and will explore the compelling facets of courage and the elasticity of the human spirit. The network of Bay Area TEDsters enjoy gathering under one roof, and we are looking forward to the first TEDxSF since TED2010.”

The limited-seating, ticketed event begins at 4:00 p.m. (PST) on Tuesday, April 27th at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. TEDxSF will also provide a free live web stream at www.tedxsf.org. TEDxSF: Courage and Resilience speakers include:

· Captain Paul Watson, of the Sea Shepherd and Whale Wars fame, will talk about his controversial approaches to Direct Action and Intervention as opposed to simple protest.
· David Shenk, author of The Genius In All of Us, will explore talent, resilience and recent research in epigenetics. He will show how science has identified the coding layer that changes the way genes are expressed within a single generation- a sort of shortcut to evolution.
· Dr. John Gray, the best selling relationship author of Venus on Fire, Mars on Ice, will explore the connection between health, hormones and resilient human connection.

Additional speakers and performers included Guitar Hero founder Charles Huang, anti-terrorism expert Celina Realuyo, leading mixed martial arts fighter Nate Quarry and serial entrepreneur Jonathan Abrams. The moving performance-art duo Loop!Station will show us Love vs. Love, and Bhi Bhiman will bring his completely unique musical presence to the event.
