New York, NY, August 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Free workspace is now available right in the heart of Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, offering a cool spot for creative professionals to meet, get some work done, brainstorm or even get a free jolt of caffeine. Work stations are available with free Wi-Fi, and the loft space is decorated with sleek, minimalist design and comfy seating.

How is this free, you might ask? The Wix Lounge is hosted by Wix, the powerful producer of online software for customizable Flash websites. Wix is a favorite promotional tool for entrepreneurs, small business owners and creative professionals, as a promotional tool and key to online success. The free website builder provides even newbies with an impressive amount of creative flexibility, as users can design fully-customized websites in just a few minutes.

Wix earns its money through premium users who upgrade their free website accounts to gain additional website features. The company states there are currently no plans to monetize the Lounge’s space or offerings. Inspiration, creativity and collaboration are core tenets of the Wix brand, and the Lounge is the perfect physical embodiment of the Wix philosophy, and “freemium” business model.

Located on the 2nd floor of 10 West 18th Street, the Wix Lounge is spreading the innovative “Wix spirit” to the creative professional community of Manhattan. A launch party was held at the Lounge last Thursday, July 29th, where free cocktails, hip tunes and exciting giveaways contributed to a lively atmosphere. Guests lined up for pictures to be taken with quirky signs and props in classic Wix-style. Giveaways included Apple shuffles given to raffle winners, and Wix swag was handed out to all those who attended. And of course, demonstrations of the website builder were provided.

Victoria Monsul, Director of the Wix Lounge, offered a warm welcome to those in attendance: “This is something [we] designed with you guys in mind…Come here, work, utilize the space to meet clients, drink coffee on the house, network…This is completely for you.”

Not only can you find a plush, serene setting to get some work done and exercise your creative muscles at the Wix Lounge. A whole slew of web-industry events will be held ranging from portfolio reviews to tutorials on how to make a website, to networking events.

Lounge guests are invited to speak up and voice their needs and preferences. Those in attendance at last Thursday’s gala even voted on the hours of operation they’d like to see the Wix Lounge offer. (8 am – 10 pm, Monday-Friday.)

“We have a very liberal program here…if you have a suggestion, I’ll do my best to address it and incorporate it into the Lounge,” says Monsul.
