UTRS Announces Opening of Montana Laboratory Facility

Butte, MT, September 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is proud to announce the opening of its state-of-the-art research and development facility in Butte, Mont. The new facility houses an industrial prototyping shop and research laboratory for a wide range of materials science projects led by UTRS’s Titanium, Materials Science, and Aerospace & Energy divisions. It also enables UTRS’s scientists to use their expertise and extensive background in metallurgy, physical chemistry, aerospace, defense, and energy-related technology and engineering services to better serve their clients.

UTRS’s research and development facility has grown rapidly since its inception. The need for a larger, better equipped facility became apparent with UTRS’s recent progress in titanium extraction, mining and process engineering research (TEMPER), as well as other initiatives in materials science applications and UTRS’s work in aerospace and energy areas. UTRS has successfully manufactured liquid titanium using a prototype furnace designed and developed by UTRS scientists.

The Montana congressional delegation and the U.S. Army have been core supporters of UTRS’s titanium research. In return, UTRS is committed to keeping operations in Butte while contributing to the state’s economy, education, and development. UTRS purchased the 9,000-square-foot facility at 116 Parkmont in May 2010 and, with the assistance of local contractors, completed a full renovation and fit-out of the building for its needs now and in the future. UTRS remains focused on its mission of providing less expensive, more readily available titanium with an environmentally safe manufacturing process for the Army and the industrial base, as well as expanding this facility for other materials science initiatives.

“Montana is truly the new technology frontier, and UTRS is pleased to have a home in Montana. We are committed to our work here and look forward to continued success and growth. Thank you to all of those who have contributed to our successes along the way,” said Albert Zalcmann, UTRS President.
