Diamond industry news:

Early in 2010, world famous jewelers Tiffany & Co. launched their Tiffany Yellow Diamond Collection. The company stated they are so confident in the ever increasing demand for high-end fancy yellow diamond jewelry that they have entered into an exclusive agreement with the Ellendale Mine in Australia ensuring that they will have a constant source of beautiful fancy yellow diamonds.

In April a 5.16 ct. fancy blue diamond sold at auction in Hong Kong for 6.4 million dollars. The price was well above Sotheby’s high end estimate but London’s famed Moussaieff Jewelers believed they got a bargain as they look towards the stones long term future value.

In October the annual “by invitation only” Argyle Pink Diamond Tender broke and set new record prices on it’s 55, best of the year diamonds.

The company stated “buyers came from a very broad range of countries, with a new, very strong interest from new markets, mainly India and Asia... these results are further confirming an increasing realization of the rarity and value of Argyle Pink Diamonds.”

The year’s biggest story came in November. Sotheby’s in Geneva auctioned a 24.78 ct. Fancy Intense Pink for a new world record price of $46 million dollars US.

Before the auction the stone was expected to break into the top 10 most expensive diamonds in the world. In fact it has now become the most expensive jewel ever sold at auction. The stone was bought by Lawrence Graff of the famed Graff diamonds.

Genesis Rare Diamonds deals and trades in rare investment quality natural colour diamonds with an international clientele, conducting its business operations in North America with its corporate headquarters located in Toronto, Canada, and a branch office in the United Kingdom, located in London at Canary Wharf’s famous office building, One Canada Square.
