Rayner Institute for Career Advancement Announces Its Sponsorship of the Development of New Think Tank, The Medical Esthetic Policy Network & Patient Advocacy Group
Washington, DC, March 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Sponsoring phase one of development of a non-profit endeavor and to encourage participation, the Rayner Institute has made the initial effort to temporarily host the first Web-based international Medical Esthetic Think Tank. The Medical Esthetic Policy Network & Patient Advocacy Group will provide an open forum for discussion between medically licensed & non-medically-licensed skin care providers working in association with or under the auspices of doctors (mainly dermatologists & cosmetic surgeons) in clinically-based treatment environments. It will serve as resource for cosmetic patient populations who are seeking anti-aging, restorative skin care options & appearance management modalities that require multiple-caregiving treatment processes. It is intended to be a central clearing house for comprehensive, cross-referencing data to help educate providers, the public, lawmakers and regulators & consequently, help to diminish the gap that currently exists between the beauty industry and the medical community.

After recently completing a ten year project that resulted in the development of thirteen distance learning programs, Victoria L. Rayner, a former disfigured patient - turned practitioner, who eventually became the director of three university-hospital based esthetic treatment clinics and a certified educator and founder of the Center for Appearance & Esteem & the Rayner Institute (1981) realized the urgent need for forming a non-commercial, non-bias medical esthetic network. At present, there is nothing to facilitate the development of safety measures or regulatory controls or that serves as a basis for a medical esthetic patient advocacy group.

This new web-based cross-linking professional alliance will give a voice to all those interested in sharing information which will lead to the greater study & establishment of quality patient care & ongoing education. Many professionals will benefit directly from this new think tank including but not limited to: medical personnel, skin care practitioners working in medical or semi-medical settings & clinically-based image enhancement experts, instructors and newcomers to the field who need to know who to ask and what to do to get a good start. Pioneers who have contributed to the development of medical esthetics will finally be able to be identified and those who chose to mentor will be able to do so by sharing their hard-earned know-how and insights. Seasoned professionals too, will be able to expand on their knowledge by participating in open-forum discussions with other providers who are practicing worldwide.

Legislators & state regulators charged with the responsibility of assuring consumer protection will be better prepared to understand the specifics of the work and the serious challenges associated with it. The database posted will provide a means for lawmakers and enforcers to locate experts with valuable insider insights into the operations of medical-spas, anti-aging facilities & laser treatment centers.

The first goal of the Medical Esthetic Policy Network & Patient Advocacy Group is to launch a major public awareness campaign to alert consumers to the potential hazards of clinically-driven esthetic services so they can better evaluate the true competency of professed medical esthetic treatment providers.

If you would like to donate to this effort or to volunteer your expertise in helping by participating in the construction or the maintenance of this new think tank’s website you may contact: Medical Esthetic Policy Network & Patient Advocacy Group @ (202) 661- 4703 or email us at: v.rayner@medicalestheticadvisor.net.
