Announcing New Drug Safety/Pharmacovigilance Training Opportunities

Drug Safety Navigator, LLC will hold numerous live on-line training for those seeking to enhance their knowledge base or may be new to the field.

Research Triangle Park, NC, December 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Drug Safety Navigator, LLC (DSN) now offers two new training options for those seeking to enhance their knowledge base or are new to drug safety & pharmacovigilance. DSN will initially conduct live monthly, interactive webinars designed to allow participants from around the world to learn from the best and most experienced in the field. For those unable to attend, the recorded version of each session will conveniently be available On-Demand. All the live and recorded sessions will cover current topics with emphasis on “Patient Safety” as the guiding principle. To allow enough time for participant questions, the format for each live session will include 60 minutes of presentation material and at least 30-minutes for questions and answers.

Drug Safety Navigator, LLC (DSN) Founder & President, Dr. Mike Klepper explained why DSN expanded its training options beyond on-site training and seminars. “The proper training and transference of pharmacovigilance knowledge should be the primary goals for all of us with years of on-the-job training and experience,” Dr. Klepper recently said. “As a medical student, I learned the old axiom – see one, do one, teach one. I feel it is my responsibility to share my knowledge with others so we’re very excited about the new training options.”

The first online workshop will feature Dr. Mike Klepper, a global expert and published author in drug safety and pharmacovigilance for over 30 years. This interactive, live training webinar entitled, “The What’s and Why’s of Pharmacovigilance” will be held January 8, 2014 starting at 10:00 AM EST and ending at 11:30 AM EST (USA). This webinar is tailored for those new to drug safety & pharmacovigilance or for those who work with safety colleagues and would like a greater understanding. During the 90-minute session, Dr. Klepper will address what pharmacovigilance is and its importance as well as provide an overview of the various roles, responsibilities, and activities for Good Pharmacovigilance Practices. He will also take questions from the participants that usually go unanswered in other forums.

The second online training session will be held on February 12, 2014 starting at 10:00 AM EST and ending at 11:30 AM EST (USA). The topic, “Pre-Clinical Approaches to Safety Signaling” will discuss the issues around what a “signal” is and how to detect. It is designed for those with some clinical experience or for those who want to learn about it.

This is an expansion of Drug Safety Navigator, LLC current services. “DSN received weekly requests for these types of training options, but the technology was not user friendly. The didactic, one-way PowerPoint session was the norm until now. We plan to address questions from the participants as we go and we will allow time for critical questions that often aren’t answered by other training services,” explains Deena Wegner, Vice-President & Co-Founder. “We’re staying flexible and will add topics and speakers throughout the year to meet the needs of the growing number of people in the field. It’s part of our mission.”

Future topics will include the best practices around preparation of aggregate reports such as Periodic Benefit-Risk Evaluation Reports (PBRERs), Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSURs), and Development Safety Update Reports (DSURs), as well as risk management strategies.
