Taking Club Baseball to Another Level in Nevada

Taking Club Baseball to Another Level in Nevada
Henderson, NV, February 26, 2014 --(PR.com)-- In a world where competitive sports are played; character, integrity and good values can easily take the back seat unless a team or organization has set their priorities straight and assembled good leadership and coaches. Here in Nevada, baseball is one sport which can be played all year around. Coronado High Schools varsity baseball team, the Cougars, are the State champions and nationally ranked. The Cougars lost 17 seniors this year but because of their club ball league the “Pumas”, under the direction of Tyler Houston (1989 MLB June draft, was drafted second overall) and Jay Matos (Government and Public Affairs Nevada Business Owner), they will be ready to compete at a high level this year and for years to come.

Meet Puma baseball, an 8u-18u Coronado club baseball feeder league program out of the great city of Henderson, Nevada. The Pumas are developing club baseball players and teams that are second to none. Currently the Pumas have 8u, 12u, 13u, 14u, 16u and 18u teams and by September 2014 they will have 9u, 10u & 11u teams; as well as developing 7u getting them ready for 8u kid pitch. Pumas are looking for not just great coaches but coaches that fit their program; coaches whose first priority is not to win ball games but that understand how to communicate with youth, care about the development of their character and integrity and their dedication to school. “Education is the most important part of being a Puma. Work hard in the classroom and it will show on the field. If we stay focused and dedicated we will win ballgames,” said Coach Jay Matos. “Currently we have six teams and three of them are nationally ranked in USSSA Power Ratings 14u & 18u are 7th in the country in their respective divisions. Our 8u Pumas are ranked 6th in the country and are undefeated in their division. They are winning against 9u club teams in scrimmage games and are setting the tone for a whole new breed of ball player coming up in the ranks, some of our top players are only 7 years old. These boys are simply amazing; the 8u Pumas have chemistry, character, passion, a whole lot of heart and they are fearless but most of all they are smart. We have 8 honor students on the team and they are setting the standard for their teammates to work diligently in the classroom. As we get their progress reports/report cards the coaches sit down with the parents and players and set goals to continue improving themselves. It’s private and confidential we do not allow them to compare grades. I tell them, our team is 6th in the country and we want to be #1, we need you on this team so work hard young Puma, work hard,” says Coach Jay Matos.
