About Dawn Leger, Ph.D.
Dr. Leger has more than 20 years of experience in grant writing and editing. She is currently the Grants Administrator for the City of Bristol, Connecticut, the home of ESPN and Lake Compounce, the oldest continuously operating amusement park in the country. Dr. Leger specializes in writing and administering government grants to support programs that enhance public services in Bristol. Dr. Leger has extensive experience working in advancement for nonprofit organizations. In addition, she provides support for the Bristol Development Authority in marketing the City as a great place to live, work, and raise a family. For her many contributions to local organizations as a volunteer, she was honored with the PLUS Award from the Family Center in Bristol, which recognizes women for Positive Leadership and Unselfish Service. In her spare time, Dr. Leger published two novels titled "In Flight", ISBN: 978-1-44-016989-2 and "Eagle Scouting", ISBN: 978-1-61-933926-2. She is also a freelance editor who has edited several textbooks in the field of ergonomics and biomechanics, as well as many dissertations, peer-review journal articles, and research grant applications. Dr. Leger obtained B.A. and M.A. degrees in Political Science in 1980 from the University of Connecticut and earned a Ph.D. in Urban Planning/Public Policy Analysis from Columbia University in 1985. In 2013, Dr. Leger partnered with two colleagues to form an independent publishing company, Lefora Publishing LLC that will focus on publishing quality work by New England writers. She enjoys public speaking about the creative writing process, cancer survival, and women’s issues. At home, she is a devoted servant to two feline brothers named Simon and Schuster.
