Tabula Rasa HealthCare Responds to CMS Announcement of Part D Enhanced Medication Therapy Managment Model

Under the CMS Enhanced MTM Model, the personalized MTM services offered by Tabula Rasa HealthCare are now eligible for reimbursement by CMS, and for additional performance-based payments. TRHC's Medication Risk Mitigation Matrix(TM) has proven to reduce adverse drug reactions.

Moorestown, NJ, October 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced a new program, providing financial incentives and regulatory flexibility to certain Part D Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs), to encourage meaningful innovation in Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services.

CMS calls its new program the “Enhanced MTM Model.”

“Long before the CMS announcement, Tabula Rasa HealthCare (TRHC) has been providing PDPs with its MedWise Advisor® application for personalized MTM services,” said Brian Litten, TRHC Chief Strategy Officer. “Under the CMS Enhanced MTM Model, however, the personalized MTM services offered by TRHC are now eligible for reimbursement by CMS – and for additional performance-based payments.”

MedWise Advisor® (MWA) is a cloud-based medication safety platform. Rather than relying on single drug-to-drug interaction analysis, which is the prevailing non-personalized approach of medication safety software programs, MWA uses a proprietary, technology-based system designed by clinicians and academics. It combines clinical and pharmacology data, population-based algorithms and extensive patient-specific data, including medical history, lab results, medication lists and personal genomic information, to optimize medication regimens to improve patient outcomes.

According to TRHC Chairman and CEO Dr. Calvin H. Knowlton, “Our Medication Risk Mitigation Matrix™ (Pat. Pending), which lies at the heart of MWA, has been proven to reduce medication-related problems (especially adverse drug reactions), falls, hospitalizations, and hospital readmissions – and to improve overall quality of care and reduce costs.”

Litten will be speaking at the MTM Summit November 13, 2015: “PDPs interested in participating with TRHC are welcome to contact me directly,” offered Litten.
