SKILLSdox and Udemy Collaborate to "SKILL UP" India

SKILLSdox Inc., an Ottawa Canada-based company, and Udemy, a San Francisco-based company, entered into an agreement to help expand Udemy’s overall online education offering across India’s mass population.

Ottawa, Canada, December 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Udemy is the world’s largest online learning marketplace with over 35,000 courses, 19,000 instructors and 9 million global learners across 80 languages. Udemy and SKILLSdox are collaborating through SKILLSdox’s online Indian education gateway and marketplace ‘School of Skill,’ to represent and promote Udemy to millions of Indians.

Earlier this year, SKILLSdox completed a $30 million investment from the largest media conglomerate in India, BCCL (Times Group), to support the marketing of online education to upwards of 80% of India’s population through TV, radio, digital, newsprint and billboards. Under this investment, SKILLSdox will reach hundreds of millions of people each week for years to come with marketing campaigns focused on educating, promoting and providing access to online education from top institutions like Udemy.

With the significant growth occurring in India, the country is faced with many infrastructure, social and economic challenges exacerbated by skills deficiencies. Due to there being not enough qualified teachers in the country, the Minister of Finance has tackled this national challenge by establishing the National Skills Development Council (NSDC) with a focus on addressing the education gaps and skills shortages within each sector. Prime Minister Modi’s mandate not only includes the vision of skilling up 500 million people by 2022, but also the digitalization of the country. “The combination of a large amount of people to train, the shortage of skilled teachers and a focus on digitalization of the country makes a prime opportunity for online education. Through School of Skill, a partnership with Udemy and our investment from BCCL, we have the right mix to help connect the country to quality education,” says Brad Loiselle, President/CEO SKILLSdox.
