Mitt Romney Wins Dentists' Smile Election

When asked which presidential candidate has the best teeth, dentists overwhelmingly chose Mitt Romney's smile. Can cosmetic dentistry help candidates in their bids for the White House?

Mitt Romney Wins Dentists' Smile Election
San Francisco, CA, February 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A recent Wealthy Dentist survey asked dentists which presidential candidate has the best teeth. The winner was clear: Mitt Romney received a full 50% of the vote, beating all other contenders in a landslide victory. Dentists across the country are impressed with his teeth, and stress that cosmetic dentistry can offer anyone a winning smile.

It's worth noting that Romney also did well in a recent political survey of dentists. The two surveys asked very different questions; that survey asked who should be president, while this one asked simply which candidate has the best teeth. Nonetheless, answers to both surveys were markedly similar, suggesting that dentists' political opinions bleed into their evaluations of candidates' smiles.

Gender played a clear role in a dentist's analysis of candidates' smiles. Male dentist were overwhelmingly in favor of Mitt Romney (61%), but female dentists did not agree. Women dentist preferred Hillary Clinton's smile (39%) and Barack Obama's (26%) over Romney's (22%).

Geographic location was also correlated dentists' opinions. Rural dentists are almost twice as likely as urban dentists to choose Mitt Romney's smile. On the other hand, urban dentists were more than twice as likely to prefer Hillary Clinton's.

Mitt Romney's teeth left many dentists impressed. "Mitt Romney's smile looks really good," commented a dental specialist. "Even Mitt Romney's smile line fits his face," agreed a Virginia dentist. "Plus, he doesn't try to smile too big." Added a Tennessee dentist, "Romney's look nice. I'm guessing they are laminates or crowns."

A number of dentists admired Barack Obama's teeth. "I like Barack Obama's teeth; they appear natural," said one general dentist. "Barack Obama has beautiful smile," raved another. "He is just blessed with good genetics. His teeth appear to be aligned in an almost ideal Angles Class I occlusion. From a dental esthetic standpoint, the other presidential candidates don't have a chance."

Many dentists had positive words for Hillary Clinton's teeth. "Hillary Clinton has the best overall smile, well-proportioned with her facial features," commented a Wisconsin dentist.

"I think it's safe to say that Mitt Romney's great teeth give him an edge over other candidates - particularly among dentists!" said Jim Du Molin, dental consultant and founder of The Wealthy Dentist. "The fact that he has a great smile suggests that he takes care of himself and is aware of his public image - which, if I'm not mistaken, would be desirable traits in a president."
