Preferred Proponent Selected for Residuals Treatment Facility Includes Synagro
Baltimore, MD, December 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Synagro, the preeminent provider of biosolids and residuals solutions services in the United States since 1986, has announced today that it is part of the Hartland Resource Management Group (HRMG) consortium selected as the preferred proponent to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a residuals treatment facility for the Capital Regional District (CRD). The CRD is the regional government for 13 municipalities and three electoral areas on southern Vancouver Island and the nearby Gulf Islands, in British Columbia, Canada, serving more than 383,000 citizens.

“This project comprises a residuals treatment facility to be located at the Hartland Landfill in the District of Saanich,” said Pam Racey, vice president of project development, Synagro. “Synagro will provide operations and maintenance of the facility over the length of the 20-year contract. The facility will process residuals from the new McLoughlin Point wastewater treatment plant using proven advanced digestion and thermal technology, producing a Class A biosolids product. Along with our consortium partners – Bird Construction Inc. and Maple Reinders Group – we plan to reach financial closure in early February 2018.”

This is a public-private partnership, or P3, project in Canada and is part of the CRD Wastewater Treatment Project that was approved in September of 2016. The facility will process the residual waste material to meet environmental regulatory requirements for wastewater treatment. The facility will have capacity to treat up to 55 dry tonnes per day.
