2018 Race for the Cure - Saturday, April 28

Saturday, April 28, 2018, is the 27th annual Central Indiana Race for the Cure. Each year thousands of Hoosiers gather to celebrate survivors, thrivers and the advances being made to end breast cancer. The event is the largest fundrasier of the year for Susan G. Komen Central Indiana. Funds raised are granted to local agencies who provide the women and men of central Indiana important breast health services.

Indianapolis, IN, April 25, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Impact the local and global fight against breast cancer by joining the 27th annual Susan G. Komen Central Indiana Race for the Cure®.

Komen Central Indiana’s largest fundraiser of the year takes place Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Historic Military Park at White River State Park in Indianapolis. Registration is open through race day at www.komencentralindiana.org/race.

Participating in the Race at any level supports Komen’s bold goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026. Funds raised from the race are granted out to local agencies and programs who provide education, screening, continued care and patient navigation to the women and men of central Indiana.

“Last year our fundraising efforts allowed Komen Central Indiana to impact over 40,000 Hoosiers, provide 20,000 services and diagnose over 100 individuals,” said Nikki Mazelin, interim executive director of Komen Central Indiana. “Reaching our goal of raising $1.15 million and saving more lives is only possible with your help.”

Kroger is returning this year as the premier sponsor of the Race, continuing the company’s tradition of making a significant impact in the fight against breast cancer. Now through April 28th, Kroger shoppers can choose to Round Up for the Cure at check out. All donations will go directly back to Komen Central Indiana.

Race Day Timeline

Saturday, April 28 – Military Park in downtown Indianapolis (approximate times)

7:00 – 9:00 a.m. Registration/Packet Pick-Up (Military Park Shelter)

7:15 a.m. Survivors and Thrivers meet at Hope Village to line up for parade

7:30 Survivor and Thriver Parade Ceremony

8:20 a.m. Aerobic Warm-Up

8:30 a.m. Kids’ Dash
100-yard dash for children ages 2 through 12

9:00 a.m. Competitive 5K Run Start

9:10 a.m. Participant 5K Run/Walk Start

9:20 a.m. One-Mile Family Walk Start

Other festivities include Kids’ Zone, food trucks and expo area highlighting sponsors plus Komen Central Indiana’s work in advocacy, research, grants and education.
