Retired Boeing Executive Lawyer Joins Free Wheelchair Mission Board of Directors
Irvine, CA, December 03, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM), a faith-based, humanitarian, nonprofit organization that has distributed more than 1.1 million wheelchairs in 93 countries, announced the election of retired Boeing executive, Marjorie A. Terner, J.D., to its board of directors.

Terner began her career in the aerospace industry at Rockwell International in 1982, armed with degrees in business administration and communications. She specialized in contracts and proposals, and later earned a Master of Science degree in procurement and acquisition management. Terner left Rockwell in 1991 to pursue a Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude.

As an attorney, Terner managed high-volume, complex litigation practices at two southern California law firms, specializing in products liability issues. She joined Boeing in 1994, providing legal counsel as a member of the executive team and serving as an advisor to the Boeing Directors of the Hughes Research Laboratory Board. Terner is a subject-matter expert on legal issues related to satellites and the deployment of technology for national security.

Since her retirement from Boeing in 2016, Terner has served as volunteer counsel, advisor, and/or board member to organizations including the Girl Scouts of Orange County. She and her husband, Craig, have been involved with FWM since 2011.

Founded by biomedical engineer, Don Schoendorfer, Ph.D. in 2001, FWM manufactures low-cost, durable wheelchairs for use by people with disabilities in developing nations. Wheelchairs are shipped via ocean container directly from the factory to their destination countries and are distributed to those in need, all at no cost to the end user. A donation of $80 covers the manufacture and shipping of one wheelchair.

“Marjorie brings a wealth of expertise in a wide range of contract and program issues,” said Stuart Rattray, Free Wheelchair Mission Chairman of the Board. “We are confident that her talent and extensive experience will prove invaluable as we pursue the distribution of our next million wheelchairs.”
