CANstruction Raises More Than 25,000 Pounds of Food

St. Louis charity competition donates non-perishables to Operation Food Search.

St. Louis, MO, July 26, 2019 --(PR.com)-- CANstruction®, a design/build charity competition, recently donated more than 25,000 pounds of non-perishable food to Operation Food Search (OFS) valued at over $42,000. The collected cans represent enough for OFS to feed 6,305 people for one day.

Nine teams from St. Louis area architectural and engineering firms designed and built structures entirely out of cans that were then donated to OFS. The structures were built and displayed for one week at the Saint Louis Science Center around the theme “Pollinators.” Hastings+Chivetta Architects hosted the build.

Founded in 1992, CANstruction is an international non-profit charity which distributes millions of pounds of food to local hunger relief organizations annually through its unique design/build competitions and special events. The events are held across North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
