CareCentra's Artificial Intelligence Based Precision Nudging Improves Medication Adherence by 15% and Major Cardiovascular Events Scores by 37%

American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2019: CareCentra's personalized nudging program significantly improved medication adherence in patients and kept them engaged throughout the course of a landmark study.

New York, NY, November 19, 2019 --(PR.com)-- CareCentra, an AI company shaping behaviors in chronic, acute, and preventative care settings, has been recognized in a landmark study presented by its partner, Intermountain Healthcare, at the 2019 American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia on October 17.

Results from the randomized control trial, ENCOURAGE, spotlighted the effectiveness of CareCentra's AI-driven behavior shaping solution in improving adherence in patients with cardiovascular ailments and other comorbid conditions.

Researchers at the Intermountain Healthcare Heart Institute in Salt Lake City found that the use of precision nudges built by CareCentra’s platform was effective in improving adherence in patients with cardiovascular diseases. The personalized nudging program significantly improved medication adherence in patients and kept them engaged throughout the 12-month course of the study with a drop-out rate of only 1.5%. Among the reported findings: An increase in medication adherence rate -11-15% (measured by the Proportion of Days Covered – PDC ratio from prescription refill data); improvement in Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events (MACE) scores by 37%; Improved patient experience of care (Net Promoter Score 89%). "We are delighted with these significant results that demonstrate the power of personalized nudging using our unique MoBe map and Nudge engine in driving patient behavior for better outcomes," stated Vasant Kumar, CEO of CareCentra. He continued, "we have successfully applied this to many other areas including high risk pregnancy, diabetes, and metabolic disorders, among others." Dr. Benjamin Horne, PhD, Director of Cardiovascular and Genetic Epidemiology at the Intermountain Healthcare Heart Institute called the findings “clinically-important and statistically significant” adding "given what we know about statins improving long term outcomes for patients with heart disease, nudging patients to take their medication can give them a much better chance of survival."
