Rochester Board of REALTIST® Brings "Democracy in Housing" to Rochester
Local NAREB board unites housing professionals, community organizations and financial partners to expand sustainable homeownership and generational wealth.
Rochester, NY, August 31, 2026 --(PR.com)-- The Rochester Board of REALTIST® (RBOR), a local board of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, today formally introduced itself to the Greater Rochester community. RBOR brings together real estate brokers, agents, lenders, housing counselors, appraisers, attorneys, developers and allied professionals committed to expanding sustainable homeownership, advancing housing equity and strengthening generational wealth.
Founded in March 2025 by Dr. Ronald E. Wright Jr professor at SUNY and Real Estate Broker/Owner Summerrain Realty Group., Leslie Y. Curry , AVP Mortgage Sales Manager, Citizens Bank N/A NMLS 407614 and Mildred Scott , Associate Broker with Howard Hanna ,Certified Housing Counselor and Mediator. RBOR was officially chartered by the National Association of Real Estate Brokers in February 2026. Its officers are President Dr. Ronald E. Wright Jr., Vice President Leslie Curry and Secretary Mildred Scott, Associate Broker. RBOR focuses on homebuyer education, professional development, community engagement, public policy and partnerships supporting sustainable homeownership.

What has too often been missing is a coordinated pathway connecting families with trusted guidance, financing, education and long-term support. RBOR's community initiatives include its Lunch and Learn and Dinner and Doors educational series, homebuyer-readiness programming and specialized navigation for participants in the Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership Program. The organization places particular emphasis on serving Black and Brown families, first-generation homebuyers, households with disabilities and residents who have historically faced barriers to housing and credit.
"Homeownership is not achieved through a single transaction; it is built through preparation, education and trusted relationships. Our goal is to meet families where they are, help them understand their financial options and connect them with the resources needed to move forward with confidence," said Leslie Curry, vice president of the Rochester Board of REALTIST®.
RBOR also supports professional education, business development and leadership opportunities while welcoming partners committed to closing Rochester's racial homeownership gap.
