Dozens of Parents, Surrogates and the Children They Carried Meet for a Reunion Party in Boston
Boston, MA, September 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday, September 21, at 11:00 AM, an unusual group will meet for a special event in Boston. As a growing number of families worldwide are being formed with the help of egg donors and surrogates, Circle Surrogacy is celebrating its 13th anniversary and the birth of its 250th baby with a reunion party. In attendance will be families formed through surrogacy, headed by both gay and straight parents, along with some of the surrogates, medical staff, and the agency people who helped make all this possible. While some of the children attending are 7-13 years old, most are infants and toddlers, reflecting the “surrogacy baby boom” of the last few years. John Weltman, Circle Surrogacy's president who is also a dad through surrogacy, will be attending with his husband and 12 and 14 years old boys. Weltman reports that while the Boston based agency has clients nationwide and in more than 30 countries around the globe, the party on Sunday will be attended mostly by New England families and surrogates. A similar party in New York three years (and 100 babies) ago was mostly attended by NY gay dads and their children (see photo).

Several surrogate mothers already confirmed their attendance, evidence of the special relation often forged between them and the grateful parents. One of them, Melissa Jackson-Reep, is presently more than 7 months pregnant in her third surrogacy journey. Some of the families attending were among the many Circle families interviewed by major national media outlets like the New York Times, Boston Herald, Newsweek and Details Magazine (see here for these stories and other surrogacy news and articles).

While the event is by invitation only and not open to the press, several families and surrogates have agreed to be photographed and interviewed on site just before the party. Please contact Ron at 917-449-2155 if you are interested in attending this session, or to arrange in-depth interviews on a different date.
