)-- The Grimes Companies (TGC) teamed up with the United States Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots program and through a company-wide drive donated nearly 300 toys in its first year of participation.
The project was spearheaded by Grimes employees Elisa Garcia and Patricia Vehmeyer. Through their efforts the Toys for Tots campaign turned into a running competition between the two Grimes locations in Jacksonville, the Ellis Road offices and the Hyatt Road headquarters, to see how many toys each office could collect.
With an eye toward making as many children happy as possible everyone in the company pitched in to help the USMC meet its goals in a year in which most of the unit was deployed during the drive.
“We’re so proud of all the people who participated,” said Michael O’Leary, President of The Grimes Companies. “We love to encourage these kinds of initiatives by our employees, and this one went way beyond our expectations. We have a great group of people.”
