Lawline.com Goes Green and Launches the “Clean Law” Initiative to Celebrate Its 10th Anniversary

New York, NY, February 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- As Lawline.com celebrates its 10 year anniversary of offering online Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) programs, it is implementing a new “Go Green” approach to its business.

The strategy, dubbed “Clean Law,” is aimed at reducing overall waste and increasing energy efficiency and sustainability. The Clean Law initiative has a three-pronged approach to reducing the legal community’s overall carbon footprint.

Clean Law: Three Prong Approach

1. Increase the awareness of Online Continuing Legal Education as a greener alternative for the one million attorneys in the country.

2. Lawline.com will use its online learning platform to help educate attorneys and law firms on how to run their office in a more environmentally friendly manner.

3. Lead by example and turn Lawline.com’s headquarters into a Green office.

Accessing CLE online is by nature environmentally friendly. In 2008, Lawline.com’s customers saved more than 5,000,000 pieces of paper by viewing online videos and reading downloadable written materials. In addition, the attorneys did not have to travel to the programs or purchase CDs or DVDs, which helped reduce their individual carbon footprints.

The first priorities of the Clean Law initiative are to reduce paper usage by 50% and cut the office’s energy usage in half. The initiative also include turning off all electric appliances, computers, and lights after use, using digital copies of all necessary documents instead of printed materials, and allowing for more outsourced and out of office work to cut gas and travel costs.

“We feel that any business has a moral responsibility to do whatever it can to help,” explained David Schnurman, President at Lawline.com, “If we can set the example in one industry, hopefully the effects can be felt by everyone.” In addition, Lawline.com will try to help educate the legal community through several outreach initiatives. The company will produce a weekly blog series, entitled “Clean Lawyer,” to show attorneys how they can be more environmentally conscious. Lastly, customers will be able to purchase programs online which focus on the more efficient ways to run a legal practice.
