OVOW Communications Releases Legendary Performances by George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner for Purchase and Download on iTunes Store
Toronto, Canada, June 12, 2009 --( Live performances by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Tina Turner are now available on the iTunes Store in aid of youth charity The Prince’s Trust.

Music legends including Phil Collins, Elton John and Eric Clapton are featured in the videos, from Prince’s Trust rock galas throughout the 1980s.

Released by OVOW Communications and licensed from BBC Motion Gallery, BBC Worldwide’s clip licensing business, the videos include:

One of only six public performances of George Harrison since his concert tours with the Beatles, and the first time that Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Ringo Starr (all participants in the Beatles’ White Album) performed “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on stage.

Paul McCartney performing “Get Back” with Tina Turner in his first performance in over six years, which inspired McCartney to tour again: “I had never considered going back on tour until I got the royals rocking at The Prince’s Trust concert,” said McCartney. “I joined Tina Turner on stage …and the packed crowd went crazy …. I had missed playing live shows but I didn’t realize how much until I did The Prince’s Trust gig… That concert left me feeling so good.”

Eric Clapton and Tina Turner performing a duet of “Tearing Us Apart,” a pre-release of the hit song that would be featured on Clapton’s August album, released three months after this performance.

An all-star collaboration on “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting),” with Elton John, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Ray King, and others in what is considered by many critics as the best live performance of the song.

The Prince’s Trust concert of 1987, which included “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” This concert won the 1987 Grammy Award for Best Performance Music Video.

Julian Barrell, director of fundraising, The Prince’s Trust said: “We’re delighted to share these legendary videos with people across the world. The money raised will help disadvantaged young people into jobs, which is more vital than ever during the economic downturn.”

“It is hard to over-estimate the significance of The Prince’s Trust concerts,” said Matthew White, co-owner, OVOW Communications. “While the list of artists is mythical and legendary, these are truly collaborative performances, full of joy and spontaneity. Nothing on this scale captures such intimacy. These are indeed essential artifacts of rock history.”

Simon Gibbs, Managing Director of BBC Worldwide said, “We’re extremely proud to represent the Prince’s Trust in this deal. These unique live music clips have such a timeless quality, everyone can remember at least one of these iconic performances and now fans can re-live them again and again through the iTunes store.”

The headliners read like a Legends Exhibit at the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”: George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Phil Collins, Tina Turner, Van Morrison, and many others, including a variety of artists who were just getting started at the time, such as Bryan Adams, Howard Jones, Paul Young, Rick Astley, Mark Knopfler and John Illsley of Dire Straits; Ultravox's Midge Ure; Level 42’s Mark King, and Rick Astley.

Seven performances from four distinct Prince’s Trust Rock Galas are now available for purchase and download on the iTunes Store. Three performances are available worldwide: While My Guitar Gently Weeps (1987), Get Back (1986), and Tearing Us Apart (1987). Four additional performances are available in all territories outside of the United States: Your Song (1986), Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting (1987), You Can’t Hurry Love (1988), and Orangefield (1989).

Proceeds from these videos will help The Prince’s Trust support more disadvantaged young people into work.
