Philadelphia, PA, May 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Lutheran Settlement House's (LSH) Women of Courage: Women of Inspiration! Awards Ceremony recognizes nine outstanding women. The Jane Addams award is given to a woman who has shown overall dedication and commitment to the wellbeing of all Philadelphians. in each of the four areas of LSH’s work: bilingual domestic violence; community education and employment training; senior services; and homeless services, LSH recognizes one woman who has made significant contributions through her work in the field and one woman who has received services, overcome significant obstacles, and improved her own life and that of her community.

Jane Addams Award Recipient 2010 – The Honorable Marian B. Tasco.

Councilwoman Tasco is widely recognized as one of Philadelphia's most influential, politically savvy, and pro-active public officials. Elected to her sixth term as City Council Representative for the Ninth District in November 2007, Councilwoman Tasco represents more than 155,000 residents in the Northeast and Northwest sections of Philadelphia.

Four advocates - Dr. Lori Shorr, Office of the Mayor; Deborah Harley, District Attorney's Office; Jennine Miller, Project H.O.M.E.; and Rennie Cohen, Aging Positively, LLC.
