New York, NY, February 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Antiquorum is delighted to present its upcoming “Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces” to be held on Saturday February 26 at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. More than 450 carefully selected timepieces will be offered during this first sale of the year. The preview will be held at Antiquorum Auctioneers’ showroom in Hong Kong from Wednesday, February 23 to Friday, February 25.

The highlight of the auction is the The Ostrich Fan Watch - Emperor Napoleon III Presentation Czapek & Cie, Place Vendôme 23 (Paris), No. 1840 (lot 452). This truly magnificent and precious fan is one of very few known of this type. It is in 18K gold and painted on enamel with a pearl and rose-cut diamond-set, white ostrich feather fan with a concealed watch and pencil. The present example is particularly rare, being signed by Czapek & Cie and made for presentation by Napoleon III (1808-1873), circa 1855.

Another exceptional timepiece being offered is The Music of Love - Repeating Musical Watch with See-Saw and Concealed Erotic Automatons by Henry Capt, Genève, made circa 1810 (lot 451). It is an extremely fine and equally rare 18K gold and painted on enamel, two-train, quarter-repeating musical watch with two automaton scenes – a see-saw automaton scene on the dial plate and a concealed erotic automaton scene. Watches with see-saw automatons are extremely rare and this watch, with its additional concealed erotic automaton, is one of very few known examples made by Henry Capt with two automaton scenes.

The Patek Philippe aficionado will want to bid on the Patek Philippe Yellow Gold Ref. 5102J, Celestial, made in 2008 and sold on December 24th, 2008 (lot 442). It is an extremely fine, rare and unusual astronomic, self-winding, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with mean time indication, nocturnal sky chart of the Northern Hemisphere, moon phases and moon orbit, time of the meridian passage of Sirius and moon.

Also for the Patek Philippe collector is the Patek Philippe Ref. 5004J (lot 443). Sold on 30th March 1999, it is an important 18K yellow gold wristwatch with split-seconds chronograph, registers, perpetual calendar, moon phases, leap year and 24 hour indication.

For the Breguet enthusiast, Antiquorum experts are pleased to offer for auction the Breguet "Tourbillon Skeleton Perpetual" No. 5008V, Ref. 3755, made circa 2008 (lot 167). It is a very fine, rare and important limited series platinum cased wristwatch with skeletonized pink movement, visible one-minute tourbillon regulator and perpetual calendar with retrograde date.

The Rolex fans will be delighted by the Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, 200 m/660 ft, Submariner, Officially Certified Chronometer", Ref. 6538 (lot 305). Made in 1957, it is a very fine and rare center seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel diver's wristwatch. This lot was featured as lot 159 in the Antiquorum Rolex Revolution in April 2008. Characterized by a beautiful gilt four line dial regarded as the most collectible version and a beautiful unpolished case, this example is sure to please any demanding collector.

Not to be overlooked is the F.P. Journe, “Invenit et Fecit”, Tourbillon Souverain à Remontoir d'Egalité avec Seconde Morte, No. 349-TN, sold on December 18th, 2007. This exceptional and rare platinum chronometer wristwatch has visible one-minute tourbillion regulator, constant force remontoir with dead-seconds and a 42-hour power-reserve indicator.
