Pulse Energy Showcasing Earth Hour Building Energy Savings

Vancouver, Canada, March 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Pulse Energy, the leading provider of building energy management software, is pleased to announce the launch of its 2011 Earth Hour campaign. The focal point of the campaign is an online dashboard that features the real time energy use of organizations participating in Earth Hour (EarthHour.PulseEnergy.com). Pulse Energy will monitor and display the building energy savings from a number of British Columbia landmarks and organizations across the province participating in Earth Hour. Buildings like Vancouver’s Harbour Centre tower, UBC Point Grey campus, the Royal BC Museum in Victoria and many other office buildings, school districts and the entire First Nations community of Hartley Bay, will power down to show their commitment to climate action.

“Earth Hour is a tremendous way to show the world the cumulative impact of a large number of small efforts to reduce energy use. Our mission at Pulse Energy is to help the world’s buildings to take those actions every day, to ensure a long-lasting positive legacy of this important event,” said David Helliwell, Pulse Energy Co-founder and CEO.

Buildings consume three quarters of the world’s electricity, they emit one third of all greenhouse gasses. Much of the energy used in buildings is needlessly wasted, largely thanks to buildings not being operated the way they’re meant to. Through improved management of the world’s buildings’ energy performance it is possible to have a major impact on the global fight against climate change.

Pulse Energy’s involvement with Earth Hour began in 2008. Each year since then, Pulse Energy’s energy management software has been used to monitor and display the energy saved in buildings and communities participating in this global event. In 2011, over a billion people in more than 4000 cities in 120+ countries are participating. Powering down for the hour is a symbolic act towards leading the way to a sustainable future.

Canada has one of the highest rates of participation in Earth Hour of any country; nearly 10 million people took part last year.

About Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a global initiative in partnership with WWF. Individuals, businesses, governments and communities are invited to turn out their lights for one hour on Saturday March 26, 2011 at 8:30 PM to show their support for environmentally sustainable action. The event began in Sydney in 2007, through a partnership between WWF Australia, Leo Burnett and Fairfax Media, when 2 million people in one city switched off their lights. By 2010, Earth Hour had created history as the largest voluntary action ever witnessed with participation across 128 countries and territories and every continent, including the world’s most recognized man-made marvels and natural wonders in a landmark environmental action.
