Balfour Beatty Establishes South Central Region, Names Doug Jones CEO

Dallas, TX, June 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Balfour Beatty Construction has named Doug Jones Chief Executive Officer of its South Central region, which serves clients in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas, and includes a satellite office in Tennessee. In his new role, Jones will oversee strategy and operations for the company’s Dallas-based North Texas division, including Charter Builders; its Houston-based division, SpawMaxwell; and its Central Texas operations conducting work as Balfour Beatty Construction, Charter Builders, and SpawMaxwell.

“Doug has been a valuable member of our executive leadership team for over 14 years and for the last five, he has made a significant impact in the North Texas AEC community,” said Robert Van Cleave, Chairman and CEO of Balfour Beatty Construction. “His collaborative style of leadership will help further our strategy for growth in all of the markets across the South Central region.”

With 30 years of experience with Balfour Beatty Construction, Jones has served for the past ten years as president and CEO of the company’s DFW division. Jones holds a B.A. in construction management from the University of Florida, serves on the board of Downtown Dallas, Inc., and is Chairman of the Construction Industry Outreach Advisory Council.

In addition to naming Jones the Regional CEO, Balfour Beatty Construction also announced several key leadership promotions:

Charles E. DeVoe, III has assumed the role of president of the company’s North Texas division, which includes both the existing DFW division and Charter Builders. Having served as president of Charter Builders for the past seven years, DeVoe will now oversee all Balfour Beatty Construction operations in North Texas. DeVoe is a graduate of Drexel University with a B.S. in Commerce and Engineering.

Walt Massey has been promoted to president of the company’s newly formed Consultancy division, overseeing operations for Balfour Resource Group, the company’s medical equipment and transition planning business; Balfour Concord, a healthcare program management business; and Balfour Sevan, a multi-site corporate program management business. In addition to this new role, Massey will continue to serve as leader of the company’s National Healthcare Group. Massey has served Balfour Beatty Construction for 12 years and holds a Bachelors degree from Vanderbilt University.

Mark Reed, formerly senior vice president of preconstruction for the company’s DFW division, has been named Chief Operations Officer for the new North Texas division. Reed has more than 30 years of construction industry experience and has served Balfour Beatty Construction for the past 13 years. Reed graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Construction.

Bruce Helm has been named senior vice president of the new North Texas division, with overall responsibility for the operations and management of the Charter Builders education business. Helm has served Charter Builders for more than 26 years and holds a B.S. in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University.

Michelle Perry, formerly vice president of human resources for the DFW division, has been promoted to senior vice president of human resources serving all of the divisions in the South Central region. In this role, she will be responsible for human resources, recruiting, training, and development needs across North Texas, Central Texas and Houston. Perry holds a Masters degree and a Bachelors degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and has served Balfour Beatty Construction for 12 years.
