)-- Flying Car LTD, a software company located in Park Ridge, NJ, announces the immediate availability of “Acquire for Photoshop,” a new iOS app that allows Adobe Photoshop CS5 users to shoot images on their iPhone that show up immediately on their desktop computer. Acquire is the brainchild of Flying Car founder Brian Maffitt, who has a long history of creating software to augment Adobe products. His “Evolution” suite of software plugins was purchased by Adobe in 2000 and permanently added to their popular After Effects program. “Acquire gets my creative new toy of the week award!” said Russell Brown, Senior Creative Director at Adobe Systems. “I’ve always wanted this capability. The creative possibilities are endless.”
There are many ways to import images from a portable device into a computer, but all of them involve several steps. Acquire reduces the number of steps to one. “Acquire follows one of the first great principles... reduce friction,” says visual designer Mark Coleran, “It’s simple, to the point, and very useful.”
“There are lots of iPhone apps that let you edit or otherwise affect an image in the phone,” explains Maffitt, “but these edits are usually permanent—the original image is lost. If you own Photoshop, you know that all the tools and effects you’ll ever need are right there at your fingertips, and you want an original, pristine image as a source.”
“Acquire” was coded by Flying Car chief engineer Wes Smith.
Acquire for Photoshop is available now in the Apple app store for the introductory price of $1.99. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPad 2, and 4th generation iPod Touch (specifically, any iOS device with a camera).
