Datalight Releases Support for ClearNAND, Windows Compact 7 and VxWorks 6.9

Datalight has just released a new version of its FlashFX Tera flash memory driver with support for a wide range of operating systems, processors, and over 300 flash parts.

Bothell, WA, January 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Today Datalight announced the release of FlashFX Tera 2.1, the latest version of its flash memory manager, which includes extensive updates for a range of hardware and software platforms. The product now supports both standard and enhanced ClearNAND, the newest versions of the Windows Compact 7 and VxWorks operating systems, and Freescale’s i.MX51 processor.

An important new flash technology, ClearNAND improves the reliability and performance of smaller and more advanced memory devices (25-nanometer and below), making them more attractive to manufacturers of enterprise servers, tablet PCs, portable media players, and dozens of other consumer applications. Error-correction is performed within the ClearNAND package itself, allowing wear-leveling, compaction, Bad Block Management and other flash management functions to be done in software. Testing in the Datalight labs shows Micron ClearNAND when used with FlashFX Tera offers significantly improved read performance.

“Datalight continues to invest in support for new hardware and software technologies so our customers can stay ahead of the technology curve without the effort and cost of driver customization,” said Datalight Director of Engineering, Ken Whitaker. “FlashFX Tera offers OEMs future-proof designs, faster time-to-market, and a better user experience.”

Updated support for VxWorks 6.9 and Windows Embedded Compact 7 extends the range of hardware choices for device manufacturers using those operating systems, with drop-in support for over 300 flash parts, allowing easier access to new hardware technology, easier sourcing and improved reliability over the native drivers.
