The Woodlands, TX, June 28, 2012 --(PR.com
)-- Harmony on the Farm is an exciting new children's book written by Sean R. Smith and beautifully illustrated by Jess Yeomans. Harmony on the Farm is about Harmony, a young girl, who spends an ideal day on her Granddad’s farm befriending cows, chickens, pigs, and turkeys. Harmony and her Granddad roam around the Farm naming all the new babies who were born on the farm. In the story’s pivotal moment, Harmony and her mother go shopping for groceries, and, while in the meat section, Harmony learns that meat comes from the same animals she just befriended and named. With this knowledge, Harmony and her mother turn toward vegetarianism and the world of foods available to them.
Harmony on the Farm is one of the few vegetarian-themed children's books on the market today. The story helps children to understand where our food comes from and what our food choices mean to our environment and personal health. The book can also serve to provide an example of child-friendly language for explaining the complicated subject of our food supply.
The book has received endorsements from several well-known vegetarians and advocates of vegetarianism. Below are the endorsements:
"Harmony on the farm sends an important message to children: that a plant based diet is not only kind to their favorite animals but essential to achieving optimum health. Reaching the next generation is the only way to change our future!" - Alona Pulde, M.D. & Matthew Lederman, M.D.
"A wonderfully well written story of how a young girl makes the connection from the farm to the market and decides she's not going to eat her friends anymore." - Ed Begley, Jr.

"Bravo Harmony! Not only a story to educate children about where their food comes from but a brilliant way to teach them the value of lives....all living things. Thank you for writing this. An important addition to Any child's education and formative reading material!" - Jon Mack
