Unbound Medicine Mobilizes Learning Environment at Miami Dade College - Faculty and Students Carry Downloadable Nursing Curriculum Integrated with Trusted References
Charlottesville, VA, February 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Unbound Medicine a leader in knowledge management solutions for health care, has partnered with Miami Dade College's Benjamín León School of Nursing—the largest undergraduate nursing program in the United States—to mobilize their curriculum and create a unique mobile learning environment. Using Unbound's online authoring system, uPub™, faculty developed a digital curriculum guide to help students navigate through their course of study. The curriculum was then fully integrated with Unbound's trusted drug, test, and disease references as well as clinical decision-making tools. The final product is a customized, downloadable mobile learning application that is used by students and faculty across two campuses.

The partnership was born as Miami Dade College was looking for a cutting-edge yet cost-effective means to create a mobile learning environment where faculty could capture teachable moments and promote critical thinking at any point during a student's day. Unbound's uPub was chosen to fulfill this vision because of its unique authoring system that makes it easy for institutions to design, develop, manage, and distribute their own content on mobile devices and the web.

“Until we adopted uPub, students had to purchase print copies of our nursing curriculum to carry along with their books,” said Amy Pettigrew PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, Dean, Benjamín León School of Nursing. “With uPub, we have easily mobilized this must-have information for both classroom and clinical settings. Importantly, its educational value has been enhanced through integration with core digital references.”

The curriculum guide was easily constructed, reviewed, and approved online using uPub's familiar word processing features and then published alongside Unbound's award-winning references and decision tools.

“Implementation of uPub was simple and our faculty required no special training or technical support,” said Dario Mercado, Campus Chief Information Officer. “Now our educators can modify and rapidly disseminate the curriculum as our program evolves to support the changing needs of students and healthcare.”

“We are excited to partner with Miami Dade College to deliver their expertise into the hands of every student,” said Bill Detmer, MD, president of Unbound Medicine. “Now faculty can disseminate institutional guidance more effectively and support continuous learning anytime, anywhere.”
