3097 Pounds Shed by Minnesotans in the Slim Down Challenge; Winners Announced
The Slim Down Challenge, hosted by Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating (SSHE) of Minnesota, was a 16-week challenge for participants to improve their health and lose weight through their nutrition. Over 300 Minnesotans entered the Challenge, with 81 of them completing the full 16-week period, losing a total of 3097 pounds, and achieving substantial improvements in their health metrics as a result.
The one male and one female who achieved the largest percentage of weight loss by the end of the challenge were named the grand prize winners. MaryKaye Nordmann of Sauk Rapids, MN was the first place female finisher, losing 26% of her starting weight (47.5 pounds). Joe Plank of Maplewood, MN was the first place male finisher, losing 25% of his starting weight (56 pounds). Both Nordmann and Plank saw significant improvements in their health metrics during the challenge, substantially lowering total cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure. Final results for all participants are available at www.SeattleSuttonSlimDown.com.
Participants in the Slim Down Challenge were on the Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating meal plan throughout the course of the Challenge. The meal plan consists of freshly prepared, nutritionally and portion controlled meals (3 meals per day, 7 days per week) that are scientifically designed to follow the guidelines set by health and nutrition experts. Participants qualified for free health screenings at the beginning of the Challenge and again at the end, to measure and document the health improvements made. Benchmark weight loss goals were set for Challengers to achieve every several weeks, allowing them incentive opportunities to continue to push towards their goals.
The 2016 Slim Down Challenge marks the 11th such event sponsored by Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating of Minnesota. Opened in 2002, SSHE of MN has 25 retail locations in the Twin Cities and Rochester, and also provides home delivery throughout MN and western WI.
