Synagro Expands Its Composting Portfolio with the Acquisition of Nursery Products in Southern California

Through a combination of environmentally sustainable and industry best practices, their collective CA and AZ facilities will deliver superior customer service and produce quality compost products.

Baltimore, MD, December 09, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Synagro Technologies, Inc. and Nursery Products, LLC announced today that Synagro acquired Nursery Products November 18th. Synagro is the nation’s largest recycler of organic residuals, providing a full range of solutions to municipalities and industries in 38 states. Nursery Products provides southern California with cost-efficient biosolids and green-waste composting at its Hawes composting facility in Helendale, CA.

“This strategic acquisition enhances Synagro’s ability to provide Class A compost solutions to municipalities throughout southern California,” stated Steve Cole, Synagro CEO. “Additionally, it positions Synagro as the leading solution provider in the burgeoning state-mandated diversion of organic waste from landfills,” he continued.

“Our customers are a top priority and they will receive the same great service without interruption during our operational transition,” said Chris Seney, Plant Manager.

In looking towards Synagro’s composting future, it is focused on recovering valuable organic matter from waste streams and converting this organic matter into beneficial products to build healthy soils and reduce greenhouse emissions. Compost from Synagro facilities can also be used to reclaim drought and fire stricken areas by retaining moisture, replenishing soil organic matter, and promoting growth of forest, rangeland, and agricultural vegetation - a critical initiative in California.

Synagro plans to continue operating the Nursery Products facility with the existing staff, adding support from Synagro product marketing and technical services to enhance the benefit to our customers. Synagro currently operates four composting facilities that serve California and Arizona. These four facilities have the capacity to process more than one million tons of organic material annually. The acquisition of Nursery Products enhances Synagro’s service offerings for current and prospective customers and positions Synagro for further growth in composting of multiple organic waste streams.
