Principled Technologies Find Cost and Performance Per Dollar Benefits for Servers with AMD EPYC 7763 Processors

Using the performance output from an OLTP workload, PT found that a four-node server cluster with 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors processed more transactions per minute (TPM) per US dollar spent on hardware and support than a four-node cluster with 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors. For ecommerce workloads using a MySQL database, this could mean great performance for new and existing customers with a smaller data center investment.

According to the report, “For every dollar an organization spends on hardware, software, and support for the cluster of servers with AMD EPYC 7763 processors, they could get 66 percent higher application throughput than they could with the cluster of servers with Intel Xeon Platinum 8380 processors.”
