Engineer Uses Creative Talent to Build New Photography Business
St Louis, MO, May 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Six weeks after searching for a position as a Senior Piping Engineer across the United States, only to find out that particular segment of the engineering industry has been deeply affected by the current recession, John MacPherson decided to pick up his cameras and begin a new career. Spurred on by friends and family’s encouragement and his love of photography, after 38 years in the engineering field, MacPherson made the decision to follow his passion.

“I had been shooting products and industrial architecture for my wife’s marketing company for over 10 years” said MacPherson. “If my work was good enough for my wife her customers, I was confident that other businesses would also be willing to hire my services!”

These days, MacPherson finds himself shooting anything that comes in front of his lense, from chemical bottles (for a new customer who found JomacPhotos through his newly designed website) to a new corporate building in Chesterfield Valley, MO and head shots of corporate employees for their website.

In addition, MacPherson volunteers half a day of his time each week at Business People Between Jobs (BBJ) in Ballwin, MO, shooting headshots of recently laid off professionals for their personal LinkedIn pages and resumes.
MacPherson adds “When I began to offer my services, I had 25 people lined up but now, I am shooting over 50 member’s headshots each week. I prepare the files at 300dpi and 72dpi and e-mail the images to each person. Many of the BBJ members have e-mailed me to let me know how much they appreciate my service and to let me know they will remember me when they get back on their feet”.
