GMPCS Connects Martina McBride with Toll-Quality Voice via Mobile BGAN
Pompano Beach, FL, October 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- GMPCS Personal Communications, a leading global supplier of satellite communications, is proud to be providing voice and data communications in support of “Martina McBride’s ELEVEN Across America” album release journey. In addition to the release of her eleventh studio album, this journey includes Martina’s partnership with General Mills on their breast cancer awareness campaign, Pink Together.

During this journey across America, powered by Amtrak, 62 interviews with radio stations, plus online and print outlets, are being conducted on-board an Amtrak Superliner train via satellite phone. GMPCS and Amtrak have collaborated to install a Thrane & Thrane Explorer 727 mobile Inmarsat BGAN system that provides toll-quality voice for Martina’s interview calls to13 radio stations. These interviews are being broadcast live while the train is under way. Additionally, WiFi access is being provided in the Lounge car utilizing GMPCS’ “The Box,” which also includes web site and email compression along with TCP-IP acceleration. This allows Martina’s press staff to upload audio clips, video and still images that are recorded or shot during a prior platform appearance, in-station performance or while the train is under way. GMPCS is also providing standard-quality mobile voice service through the new Iridium 9575 Extreme™ handheld satellite phone. The new Iridium 9575 Extreme provides Location Based Services as well.

When presented with the challenge by Amtrak and Big Machine Label Group, GMPCS had the perfect solution. “Being on a team that works closely with media broadcasters, we had just the solution for Martina and BMLG,” says GMPCS Vice President of Business Development Tim Young. “The Thrane Explorer 727 mobile BGAN has a fully automatic tracking antenna that stays connected to the Inmarsat satellite system even while the train is in motion. This will allow us to stay connected with simultaneous voice and fast broadband.” GMPCS has been providing turn-key satellite communications solutions, including equipment, system integration, and airtime for over 14 years.

Martina McBride’s four-day train ride across the United States, beginning in Los Angeles and ending in New York City will mark the launch of her new album ELEVEN. While en route, Martina will perform mini concerts at select Amtrak train stations across the country. She will be making 11 station stops in major cities, picking up fans and breast cancer survivors along the way. Martina’s second single off ELEVEN is called, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” a song that praises cancer survivors and their supporters.
