)-- The IEEE Symposium on New Frontiers in Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks (DySPAN 2012), the leading international conference dedicated to the advancement of cutting-edge wireless technologies and associated regulatory policies, has rescheduled its 6th annual event from April 2012 to 16 – 19 October 2012. To be held in Bellevue, Washington, IEEE DySPAN 2012 is the premier global forum that focuses solely on the development and deployment of advanced spectrum engineering and smart radio systems.
“Our primary mission is to deliver the highest-quality agenda that includes industry-leading research and regulatory advances that are expected to have a profound impact on our field,” says IEEE DySPAN 2012 General Chair Dr. Victor Bahl of Microsoft Research. “There are regulatory changes being discussed in many parts of the world, including USA, Japan and Korea, which will change the policy landscape considerably. IEEE DySPAN was founded in 2005 to further the discussion of radically new spectrum access technologies. This includes a full roster of system demonstrations, panels, tutorials and keynotes tailored to the advancement of spectrum engineering and sharing methods, regulations and systems oriented research.
Last year’s IEEE DySPAN event included four full days of technical, business and policy symposia consisting of nearly 60 paper presentations and more than 25 new technology demonstrations and posters. Specific topics included “Cognitive Wireless Networking,” “Dynamic Spectrum Access Related Standards,” “Policy Questions Relevant to Dynamic Spectrum and Cognitive Radios,” “Performance Evaluation of Sensing Solutions,” Pricing Mechanisms for Multi-Carrier Wireless Systems,” “TV Whitespace Spectrum Sensing Prototypes,” “UHF White Spaces in Europe” and “Cognitive Radio Developments for Emergency Communication Systems.”
The preliminary “Call for Papers” for IEEE DySPAN 2012 solicits original submissions covering regulatory aspects of dynamic spectrum access (DSA), theoretical studies and algorithm and protocol design for cognitive radios and networks as well as application-oriented contributions dealing with architectures, platforms, signaling and multiple access schemes. Organizers are particularly interested in papers reporting on broadband spectrum sensing, DSA applications and economics, regulatory advancement summaries and business case studies and models detailing advanced spectrum engineering, prototypes, pricing, radio resource management and market trends.
