Peter Jones Unveils National Entrepreneur of the Year

Britain's best budding entrepreneur celebrated at national awards ceremony.

London, United Kingdom, July 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- An 18-year-old student from Chichester College has been named National Entrepreneur of the Year by the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.

Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE presented Rob Nunn with the highest accolade during Peter Jones Enterprise Academy graduation ceremony at the Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

Peter Jones CBE commented:
“Rob was simply outstanding. He has the whole package that we were looking for in our candidate for National Entrepreneur of the Year. He has superb presence, an outstanding commitment to the Academy and a driving ambition to succeed in his own entrepreneurial endeavors.

“We were hugely impressed by the talent and ambition among this year’s graduates of the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy. They represent a new generation of young entrepreneurs with the passion, self-belief and go-getting attitudes to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams.”

During his time at the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, Rob impressed his course leaders by successfully securing mentoring and investment from local businesses to launch a social enterprise Youth Aviation Fund. The fund provides opportunities for young people to learn how to fly and start their career as a pilot.

As one of six finalists, Rob presented his business model to the judging panel, in a Dragons’ Den style pitch, which was led by Peter Jones and included leading figures from the worlds of business and education. He was asked a series of challenging questions about his business, which he developed as part of the course, his experience of the Academy and his views around tackling youth unemployment.

The National Entrepreneur of the Year Award is sponsored by Alfa Romeo and ingenie.com – the car insurance provider for 17-25 year olds. At the graduation ceremony, which was supported by Gazelle, Rob was awarded a brand new Alfa Romeo MiTo TwinAir for 12 months.

Rob will be one of the first people in the UK to drive the new low-emissions, Twin Air version of the Alfa MiTo and he will be fully insured thanks to ingenie. But there is one catch – Rob is yet to pass his driving test, therefore the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy is including a series of driving lessons to help him get his hands on the wheel.

As National Entrepreneur of the Year, Rob will receive national recognition for his hard work and will be given the unique opportunity to represent the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy as an ambassador throughout the coming year.

Rob Nunn commented:
“Being named National Entrepreneur of the Year by the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy was mind-blowing, absolutely unexpected but an amazing award to win. The Academy is a fantastic base for young entrepreneurs to develop the skills and attributes in order to run their own business or develop their careers.

“I feel that the next year will be even bigger and better than this year and I look forward to being an ambassador for the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.”

Damien Dally, Head of Brand, Alfa Romeo said:
“Rob has already proven to be a talented and hungry young entrepreneur; and whilst he has a penchant for learning to fly, he now has the carrot to learn how to drive with a brand new Alfa MiTo Twin Air parked on his parents driveway.”

Richard King, ingenie Founder and CEO said:
“We believe in helping young drivers to fulfill their potential, which is why we are proud to sponsor The National Entrepreneur of the Year Award and fully support their ethos of training and motivating young people. Our telematics technology means we can provide feedback to help young people develop their driving skills, and offer rewards for better driving.”
